Like so many of you, I love spring. It’s a time of renewal. The sun begins to show itself more often as winter quietly goes away. It’s those sunny afternoons that make me want to sit on the patio of my favorite restaurant and catch up with friends and family. It also feels like the perfect time to think about well-being, and I’ve got some topics and treats coming up on the blog this month to help you do just that as you transition into spring.
Keep your eye on the blog this month for fun and exciting ways to add a little well-being into your busy schedule. Let’s do it together!
I’m launching a series on the must-read business books I recommend to my clients and anyone who wants to experience a career-changing breakthrough in their industry. I’ll review them and sum up each one into an easily-digestible blog post.
March’s must-read is Thrive by Arianna Huffington. I first came across the book at the KiKKi K shop while on a business trip in London. Sure, I’d heard about this book, but finding the Kikki K Limited Edition Design was the little extra kick I needed to finally purchase it for myself. (Who doesn’t love shopping KiKKi K?)
Thrive gathered dust on my bookshelf for months until my demanding, travel-heavy job of 22 years ended, and I found myself trying to define my own new version of normal.
As you might imagine, I slept for most of the first two months after leaving my job. In fact, after my annual Fourth of July family vacation I found myself almost unable to get out of bed. In this state of mental and physical exhaustion and burnout, I looked up and saw Thrive sitting there on my shelf. It was the Universe reminding me that if I wanted to move forward, I would have to get my mental and physical well-being in check.
I could have used the book about a year before my job ended; it gave me insight on why I was so exhausted and made me realize I could do better for myself and others around me. Don’t be like me and wait too long to read it – read it now!
On the blog this month you’ll find Thrive broken down into four key take-action posts:
Managing your well-being doesn’t end there this month, I will also offer information on how to get the most out of your frequent flyer points, help you look at what might be holding you back from effective delegation and how to build a success network that will feed your mind and soul.
All of this will help you focus on your well-being, so you are better for yourself and all those around you.
March also brings us several holidays that are near and dear to my heart, including:
- Read Across America on March 2nd, an initiative on reading held on the birthday of none other than Dr. Seuss.
- International Women’s Day on March 8th, to commemorate the movement for women’s rights.
- International Day of Happiness on March 20th, to recognize the need for a more inclusive approach to economic growth that promotes sustainable development, poverty eradication, happiness and the well-being of everyone.
Let’s welcome in spring together as we prepare for this new season of wellness. See you around the blog!
